Tips for breakfast
The ideal start to a perfect day
TINSEL
Right next to Antwerp For Two you will find TINSEL. The best breakfast place in town. Many of our guests choose to have breakfast outside the room and then you quickly end up here. Come by for seasonal dishes, refreshing drinks, good coffee & nice vibes. Vegetarians and vegans are also welcome here. Open on weekends from 9am. Check it out!
TOITOITOI
A few minutes’ walk from the B&B, in the cozy Lange Koepoortstraat, you will find ToiToiToi. A very nice place where coffee and local culture are the most important ingredients. In addition to the breakfast menu, there is room for art & design. Where possible, they work with organic and local ingredients, simply because they can and to keep the impact on the environment, animals and humans as low as possible.
ANTWERP FOR TWO
Just stay in the room for a long time and have breakfast in the room (15 € / pp) is also possible. Give us a call in advance at what time you want it and we will bring a wonderfully filled basket to your room door at the agreed time. Pistolets and croissants from the local bakery, a selection of salty and sweet fillings, cereals, milk, yoghurt and fruit juice.
DELICIOUS EATING OUT
The best places for your lunch or dinner
RESTAURANT VICTOR
After several years in the kitchen at Dôme and the London Frenchie, young chef Victor Avonds is now ready for his own business, where you can also just go for a drink. High quality food in a casual atmosphere. Just on the Sint-Paulusplaats, a few meters from the B&B.
SCHNITZEL ANTWERPEN
At Schnitzel Antwerpen you can go for small partial dishes (such as at the Spanish tapa bar) but then fusion cuisine from chef Geert Wijns. Simple business but a very quirky kitchen that is reminiscent of Ottolenghi’s style. The 5-course menu with matching wines is highly recommended here.
ROEST ETEN / DRINKEN
ROEST Eten / Drinken – Quirky, stimulating, original in Antwerp. Something for everyone (breakfast, lunch, dinner, bar) in a warm and industrial decor. On the Island @ MAS (‘t Eilandje).
RESTAURANT MARCEL
Restaurant Marcel offers its guests classic French product cuisine, with a contemporary twist. The chef likes dishes that are well flavored. As a basis, he starts with a carefully selected top product. Combine this with a good wine, possibly selected by our sommelier Jon Stalmans, and the party is complete.
RESTAURANT MÓN
In the kitchen from restaurant MÓN there is a Josper® oven, made in Barcelona. It is a charcoal oven that combines all the goodness of grilling and barbecuing. The high temperature, which can reach up to 400°C, ensures perfect texture and juiciness, whether meat, fish or vegetables. The charcoal provides the taste of fire.
RESTAURANT PAZZO
At restaurant Pazzo they like to try something new, without ignoring tradition and without complicated feats. But with first-class ingredients that are bursting with flavour. Chef Ingrid Neven and her team combine the best culinary influences from around the world. French, Italian and Japanese ingredients are effortlessly combined.
DE BURGERIJ
The ‘Best burgers in town’. In De Burgerij you can enjoy an honest dish, made with pride and pleasure! Freshly prepared, ground and baked à la minute. They only work with the best ingredients, so they guarantee a juicy piece of meat, straight from the grill. Seasonal products with the right origin form the basis.
FISKESKUR ANTWERPEN
Top concept in the old customs building in the Eilandje district of Nikolaj Kovdal, the chef who also set up the popular restaurants Fiskebar, Østerbar, Gå Nord and Bar Noord. You can enjoy a wonderful view. In the open kitchen, cooking is done with an open fire and from a rocket stove. The menu? The daily catch and local harvest from organic fish and vegetable farmers, plus experiments in fermentation and pickling.
GRAANMARKT 13
One of our favorites in town. For shopping and certainly for eating! Chef Seppe Nobels is at the helm (check out his cookbooks!). As a pioneer, he has been cooking unsurpassed for years with vegetables in the leading role. Everything is found locally, and you eat with the seasons. And it all looks almost too good to eat. At noon he serves a two-course lunch, in the evening three courses according to a fixed menu formula.
Places for a drink
Wonderful places for a stopover
DOGMA COCKTAILS
At DOGMA Cocktails you are in the right place for delicious drinks with names such as “Ella Spritzgerald” and “Japanese Blossom”. Our personal favorite is called “Cocktail à la Louisiane” but each drink is prepared with great expertise and taste. A pleasantly crazy team is always ready to make something delicious out of it.
BELGIAN WINES BAR
In the heart of Antwerp, on the edge of the Theaterplein, you will find the Belgian Wines Bar. In a trendy and warm design, this business has been promoting Belgian wines in a pleasant setting since 2016. By glass or bottle you can taste the best of Belgian soil and, if desired, you can also get a delicious cheese board or plate of charcuterie from the region.
SALON DE THÉ CLAUDE
Salon de Thé Claude is a romantic Parisian style tea house with an antique interior. You can go here for traditional English tea with sandwiches, scones and cake. You can also go here for breakfast or lunch and there is a pleasant terrace if you want to sit outside.
BIER CENTRAL
At Bier Central near Central Station you can choose from an exceptionally large collection of Belgian beers. 33 different types of farmer on tap and more than 366 bottled beers. They also have a menu with Belgian regional dishes. They sell a nice beer encyclopedia and you can also go there for a tasting. You can request this via antwerpen@biercentral.be.
JONES & CO
Simply enter Jones & Co and you immediately feel welcome. Cozy in the seats of our living room, on the slightly creaky mezzanine, or hidden in our beautiful, vaulted city cellar. The entire team literally welcomes you and your company. And we like to translate that homely warmth into our delicious cocktails. Jones & Co, a synonym for ultimate enjoyment in an authentic medieval Antwerp city building.
KAPITEIN ZEPPOS
If you want an attractive terrace in Antwerp, you cannot ignore Mechelseplein. Several low-key, hip spots come together here. For a decent portion of Flemish food or a Zeppos Burger – with 100 percent beef and cheddar cheese – go to Kapitein Zeppos. When the sun shines, their terrace is guaranteed to be full. Come and enjoy and above all… SPREAD THE LOVE!
